Wegberg, 08 April 2025 – Successful season start for Leipert Motorsport in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia: At the first race weekend at the Sydney Motorsport Park (Australia) the team from Wegberg, supported by PROFI-CAR, celebrated two pole positions, two podium finishes and strong results with the two Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2.
Despite logistical problems – a container arrived late, forcing the cancellation of some of the planned test runs – the Leipert drivers were very strong right from the start. Hampus Eriksson (SWE) took pole position in the PRO class in the first qualifying session, while Jiajun Song (CHN) was second fastest in the AM class. Ethan Brown (SGP) started the second race from eighth on the grid – and Song went one better, taking pole position in the AM class.
Exciting races and a strong team performance
In the first race, Eriksson held his own in the leading group despite a difficult start, handing over to his team-mate Brown in third place. The young Singaporean showed nerves of steel to pull off a spectacular overtaking manoeuvre on the penultimate lap – second place for the Eriksson/Brown duo! Song fought bravely against the Australian heat and just missed the podium in fourth place.
The team continued to attack in the second race. Brown defended his position at the start before Eriksson took over and, after some exciting duels, finished fourth in the PRO standings and fifth overall. Song had another strong race and took his first podium of the season with third place in the AM class.
Managing directors Marcel Leipert and Marc Poos draw a positive conclusion:
„This has been an outstanding start for our team: two podium finishes, strong qualifying performances and absolutely flawless teamwork – we are very proud of the whole squad. We are currently second in the PRO championship and third in the AM category. Everyone in the team has done a great job, from the pit crew to the drivers. This performance gives us confidence for the upcoming races.“
European kick-off imminent
Leipert Motorsport continues without a break: Next weekend (11-13 April) the team will compete with four cars in the season opener of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe at Paul Ricard (France). After a successful start in Asia, the team is aiming for top results in Europe as well.
