Leipert Motorsport again with a large line-up in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe 2022!

11. March 2022

Two weeks before the start of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe season, Leipert Motorsport presents its extensive programme: With five Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2 and a strong driver line-up, the traditional team from Wegberg will again compete in three classes (AM, PRO-AM, PRO).

After a successful motorsport year in 2021, Leipert Motorsport will again compete with a top-class driver line-up in all six events and the world final of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe in this year’s season.

A mix of experience and young ambition

In the PRO class, David Serban will be behind the wheel. The 18-year-old Romanian has gained experience in GT4 racing over the past three years and has taken part in the DTM Trophy, among other events.

The team from Wegberg, which is supported by MOTUL, will be competing in the PRO-AM category with two Lamborghinis: The young racer Kerong Li (20, China), who has already driven a GT3 car for the long-established team in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, will share the cockpit with Jean-Francois Brunot (44, USA). The 44-year-old is the reigning TCX Champion of the 24H Series.
Driving the Crowdstrike Lamborghini ST EVO2, Gerhard Watzinger (61, USA), who has already been an integral part of the team since 2020, and Brendon Leitch (26, New Zealand) form a promising driver pairing in the PRO-AM. Leitch has also been a permanent member of the team since 2019 and is also involved in Leipert Motorsport’s GT3 programme.

After entering the 2021 Lamborghini Super Trofeo with the team from Wegberg, Gabriel Rindone (49, Italy) continues his programme in the AM class.

The fifth duo in the group is represented by Jürgen Krebs (56, Germany) and Tim Müller (55, Switzerland).  While Krebs has already completed a number of endurance races for Leipert Motorsport and has also gained experience in the Super Trofeo, team-mate Müller contributes his knowledge as an endurance expert. The driver duo will also compete in the AM class.

“We can barely wait for the season to start”.

Already at the beginning of April (01.-03.04.) the lights in Imola (Italy) turn green for the opening round of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe season. A highlight of the season is the start in the supporting programme of the 24-hour race of Spa-Francorchamps at the end of July. The Lamborghini Super Trofeo World Final will be held in Portimao in early November.

The two managing directors Marc Poos and Marcel Leipert are already looking forward to the start of the season: “We are very pleased to be represented again in the LST Europe with five cars. The Lamborghini Super Trofeo is the perfect platform for ambitious gentlemen drivers as well as for junior drivers. We have a very good mix of young and experienced drivers and with the five new LST EVO2 we will build on the successes of the previous season to have at least as successful and exciting a season in 2022.”
